Do Good Restaurant and Ministry (Osgood, OH)

To say Do Good delivered on hospitality is a massive understatement. My guest and I were invited to tour the restaurant by several different employees and were made to feel as if they had waited to serve us all day.

The architecture, both inside and outside, drove our conversation when the appetizer arrived. The weighty silverware and cloth linens held our attention when lunch was served. And the impressive list of homemade desserts and new offerings like Cranberry Apple Pear Pie left us feeling like two little kids at our grandparents’ dinner table.

From pancakes to omelets to salads to lettuce wraps to bruschetta to grits to salmon to the Po’Boy to pizza to kids meals served in an ark, accompanied by animal crackers, everything on the menu is cleverly named and suited to make even the pickiest of eater salivate.

And that’s just the food!

On to the post-lunch self-guided tour. My guest and I strolled around the restaurant as freely as if we were family to the owner. We passed the place where live music played while we ate. We looked at the big back room for gatherings larger than the booths and tables in the front. We traveled up the stairs to the enormous space, complete with L-shaped couches and stunning wood tables, that made me imagine bridal showers and rehearsal dinners.

But perhaps the place that pulled on my heartstrings the most was Do Good’s Children’s Memorial Garden… “a place dedicated to the children who left us too soon.” See the attached photo of their flyer about this garden… it includes information about buying a stained glass block with a child’s name on it.

And if the mouth-watering food and inspiring atmosphere aren’t enough to make you take a drive, consider this truth: Every month Do Good chooses a person or family in need and ALL the tips go there. It doesn’t matter if you pay with card or cash. All tips go to the designated person or family, which is clearly posted by the door. Today, the daughter of my high school classmate, Matt Huelskamp, was the ‘tip of the month.’❤️

Whether Osgood is in your backyard or a drive away, this is a must stop. Whether you need to feed your stomach or your heart, this is a must stop. Whether you want breakfast, lunch, supper, or dessert, this is a must stop.

You’re going to feel good while you’re eating well… and while you’re eating well, you’re going to ‘do good’ with every tip you leave.

If Do Good Restaurant and Ministry wasn’t on your to-visit list before, I hope it is now. I think you’ll be quite impressed with this gem of Darke county that’s only been open since December 2019… and has survived the pandemic as well as those who’ve been in business for decades.

Love yourself & others,
E❤️
