S.O.B. Steakhouse (Liberty Township, OH)

7630 Gibson St., Liberty Township, OH 45069

You S.O.B… where have you been all my life?

Nestled among the shops, eateries, and entertainment stops at Liberty Center in Liberty Township, Ohio sits the latest entrepreneurial venture from the founders of Agave & Rye— my favorite Mexican-inspired restaurant on the POSITIVELY DELICIOUS food blog journey.

Meet SON OF A BUTCHER STEAKHOUSE— the place where two worlds collide. You’ll find everything from top-tier Caviar to the homegrown-tasting Duck Fat Waffle Fries that I’m still dreaming about today.

First Impressions

The complementary valet service isn’t necessary, as parking abounds at Liberty Center. So, the fact that valet is offered is an unexpected luxury. It’s a sign, before you even enter S.O.B., that you’re at a restaurant that values your experience and has no interest in pushing you out the door. This is a place where you relax, take your time, and enjoy.

Along with the cleverly chosen name, the logo of a cow with an Ocean’s Eleven vibe along with the pops of color on the front door instantly suggest that this isn’t your everyday steakhouse.  The elevated feel of the complimentary valet paired with the fun and cheeky logo and outside aesthetic conflict with each other in the best way.

Something different is within the walls of S.O.B… you can feel it before you even enter.

A Step Inside

A claw foot tub greets you, which suggests the founder knows the importance of a good social media snapshot when opening a new business.

Chandeliers dripping in bobbles and pearls and jewels hang every few feet, none of them perfectly resembling the other and all hand-picked. Graffiti and paintings engulf S.O.B. in a trendy, modern vibe that leaves stuffiness at the door.

Victor, the exceptional server and source of S.O.B. knowledge, shares that the bar murals include the founder’s family members, who were butchers, as well as Ozzy Osborne, who apparently was a butcher before his music days.

Taking a moment to stroll through the restaurant, you find each room has a theme. There’s a room dedicated to plays and mythology that features Alice in Wonderland and Greek gods, among other things. You find a wall dedicated to Marvel superheroes and Harley Davidson. And in the very back, is the Bonnie and Clyde room— a room that can be reserved for 10 people and will feature a tv large enough to watch whatever game or event suits your fancy.

Not to be outdone by the exceptional spray paint and paintings, the décor seduces your eyes and gives you more than enough to talk about between courses. Fur covered bar stools, silver coated statues, a piano, different styles of seating and on your table, a leatherbound menu with an imprint of a stunning tree and dainty leather straps.

The Menu

Let’s get down to the good stuff: The food and drinks!

If you’re feeling feisty, you may order a BASIC B*TCH or a HOT MAMASITA MARGARITA. But if you want a good ol’ BUD LIGHT or CORONA, you’ll find those as well. The WINE list goes on for pages and the LIQUOR list rivels that of the most stocked restaurants. It’s astounding that one restaurant can have so many choices at once.

Now let’s move on to the appetizers.

SHAVED TRUFFLE HOUSE GNOCCHI, MILLION $ DEVILED EGGS, and THE EPIC S.O.B. SEA DADDY “Get the Party Started,” as S.O.B. says. And if CAVIAR is for you, they have everything from the KALUGA HYBRID to the BLUE SCAMPI. You can even choose from one of their 21 CHEESE & MEAT BOARDS, which can include everything from DEER CREEK RATTLESNAKE HABANERO TEQUILA (cheese) to DEHESA CORDOBESA CHORIZO DE BELLOTA IBERICO (meat).

The next part of your meal can feature the PEAR AND BLUE SALAD, LOBSTER ROLL, AUSTRALIAN WAGYU BEEF, ROASTED CHERRY CHICKEN, SHAVED TRUFFLE MAC AND CHEESE, or even TWIN FILET AU POIVRE.

But don’t forget the SIDE PIECES!

From SUMMER RISOTTO, DUCK FAT WAFFLE FRIES, WICKED MAC & CHEESE PANACKAES, to KICK ASS AU GRATIN POTATOES, the side pieces are generous in proportion and exceptional in taste.

And to up the ante a little more that this will be a memorable food stop for you, don’t forget that the WAGYU, TOMAHAWK RIBEYE, and other meats can be topped with everything from SHAVED TRUFFLE to GOLD LEAF.

If you have room for dessert, you won’t be disappointed.

The BERRY LEMON FIRE, PISTACHIO CRÈME BRULEE, and AFFOGATO CART, among others, are known to delight even the most jaded of palates. Or, perhaps, instead of a dessert, you’d prefer a drink. Well, have no fear. S.O.B. has “Night Caps” like: LIMONCELLO, FRENCH PRESS, and CAPPUCCINO.

Final Thoughts

With homemade pastas and desserts, an extensive and inspired drink and food menu, an eclectic environment that summons light heartedness amongst a menu that clearly shows a seriousness and attention to detail and incredible service, S.O.B. Steakhouse is more than deserving of a stop on the Positively Delicious food blog. With core values centered on Love, Community, Exceeding Expectations, Epic Hospitality, Inspiration and Respect, S.O.B. stands ready to take the restaurant world by storm.

S.O.B. Steakhouse in Liberty Township is a test restaurant with plans to extend to Columbus and Cleveland if this location continues to exceed expectations. And since the founder’s last venture, Agave & Rye, was honored as the Top 5 Hottest Brands 2021 from NRN and TOP 20 NEXT-GEN Brands 2021 from FSR Magazine, there is no doubt in my mind that S.O.B. Steakhouse will live up to it’s promise to offer “everything desirable in a top steakhouse without the white tablecloths, pretentious service and boring atmosphere.”

And full disclosure that this is the priciest menu on the Positively Delicious food blog journey. But with that said, the portions are generous. My guest and I split the TIGER PRAWNS and shared the LOBSTER ROLL with DUCK FAT WAFFLE FRIES and were more than satisfied. In fact, it wasn’t the smoothest move when I ordered the MILLION $ DEVILED EGGS, because I was told they were incredible and wanted to try them for myself… and then, our server brought out a complimentary birthday treat. If my eyes and stomach had communicated faster, they would’ve made me ask for a to-go container.

Life is short, so when you’re able, experience something new… try something different… and surround yourself with people whose inspiration and passion are so tangible that a minute in their presence brightens your day and your perspective.

Note: Call before you go and make a reservation. Walk-ins are welcome but like all new and exciting restaurants, waits can and do happen for those without a reservation during peak times.
