First Impressions
We get to sit inside!
My kiddos and I are quite the connoisseurs of ice cream. We love Track Side Treats in Anna (OH), Minster Tasty Treet in Minster (OH), and the original Scoops in Wapakoneta (OH). But when Two Scoops opened their doors for the first time, they were instantly different than the other places mentioned because we were allowed to walk through the door.
Whoever said ice cream isn’t needed when it’s cold outside clearly forgot what it feels like to be a child. If children play in water so cold that they shiver while still insisting they aren’t freezing, then they sure do want ice cream year-round… and if they have me for their mom, then their mother does too.
Open since just August of 2021, Two Scoops is already making a well-deserved name for itself.
A Step Inside
As a family of nine, I was thrilled to see exactly nine vibrant-colored stools and a wraparound purple counter where all of us could sit at once and look outside.
Bright colors.
Daily meal specials.
Menu large enough to fill a wall.
Pictures of every hand dip ice cream choice.
And to top it off, an employee greeting me with a smile and patience.
It took no time at all to feel like I’d just found the first ice cream stop on the Positively Delicious food blog journey.
It may be small inside, but it’s big enough to create a memory and ensure your return.
The Menu
Most expect SOFT SERVE, DOLE WHIP, HAND DIP, TORNADOES, SUNDAES, SLUSHES, FLOATS, and novelties— like DRUMSTICKS and JUMBO ICE CREAM SANDWICHS— to show up on an ice cream shop’s menu. But Two Scoops is more creative with TURTLE CHEESECAKE ON A STICK, TROLL CONES— complete with cotton candy sprinkles with cotton candy hair, candy eyes, and wafer ears, COLOR CHANGING BOWLS, and an OCTOPUS— think candy eyes and gummy worm tentacles.
It’s also common for ice cream shops to offer HOT DOGS and WALKING TACOS. But here is where Two Scoops breaks away from the ice cream shop pack.
Two Scoops makes their own, as in HOMEMADE, SHREDDED CHICKEN, BBQ PORK, SLOPPY JOE, CONEY SAUCE, COLE SLAW, and even cuts the apples in the APPLE CRISP & VANILLA ICE CREAM dish. And on top of their homemade delights, they have 17 SUPER DOGS ranging from the JOHN WAYNE to the CURIOUS GEORGE.
So, what about those daily meal specials I mentioned? Well, they change weekly but when I stopped by, they had MEATLOAF WITH MASHED POTATOES AND GRAVY AND SIDES on Tuesday… SPAGHETTI WITH MEAT SAUCE AND SIDES on Wednesday… CHICKEN & NOODLES AND SIDES on Thursday… and ITALIAN SAUSAGE WITH ONIONS & PEPPERS ON A HOGGEE BUN AND SIDES on Friday.
And a little bonus for the dog lovers out there, they offer a doggie treat for sale as well. Our dogs, Taffy and Ruby, gave them two paws up!
Final Thoughts
Two Scoops is a place you can visit on a shoestring budget and make a memory.
If you think it’s hard for you right now, financially, as a person or a family, try to imagine how difficult it must be for smalltown restaurant owners. Now, more than ever, is the time to throw your support locally. If Two Scoops isn’t local to you, think about the places that are local and who your patronage may help. And not just ‘help’ as in their bottom line— I mean help their spirit and determination to survive and thrive in this very difficult financial climate.

Was there Monday and they had new ice cream flavor, orange/pineapple. Absolutely delicious!
