Agave & Rye (Troy, OH)

AGAVE & RYE should be nicknamed Hallelujah & Try.

With in-house-made margaritas, fresh produce, and homemade dips, salsa, taco shells, sauces, and tortilla chips, Agave & Rye transports your tastebuds to an experience that only the best culinary taco artists can achieve. From THE BIG THUMPER with kangaroo meat to THE EASY RANCHERO with cowboy candy (a combination of brown sugar and cayenne pepper) to The BAD WOLF with crispy pork belly chicharrones, Agave & Rye is a taco crowd pleaser— and when asked if you want to add sweet & spicy bacon, don’t hesitate… just say “yes!”

Have no fear, non-taco lovers. Agave & Rye offers a selection of alternative options, like the CRISPY BRUSSEL SPROUTS, MAC N CHEESE, HOUSE-MADE SEA SALT TATER TOTS, CHIPS & DIPS, EPIC BURGER,  YUMMY TUMMY LO MEIN, AGAVE & RYE CHOPPED SALAD, and the BIG SIS CHOCOLATE CAKE. And if you have a kiddo, ask about the chicken tenders– they’re not on the menu, but they’re available. The chicken tenders’ secret availability proves that you and your kiddo’s dining experience is priority number one for Agave & Rye.

Note: Be prepared to wait, as Agave & Rye does not take reservations, and word of its mouth-watering food and the call-home-to-mom-worthy atmosphere is traveling as fast as a wildfire. Don’t worry– the wait is worth it and well thought out. Agave & Rye take your name and number and text you when your table is ready, leaving you plenty of time to walk around charming and eclectic downtown Troy. If you don’t feel like stretching your legs and hitting the pavement, Agave & Rye offers an arcade room filled with fourteen FREE  arcade games and cozy seats.

Agave & Rye isn’t just a taco-lover and drink-connoisseurs’ realized utopia; it’s also one of the best examples of urban chic. From floor-to-ceiling, top-of-their-game spray paint artists took white walls and left behind a stunning collection of one-of-a-kind pieces. The vibrancy of the colors and artworks’ perspectives feel like elevated graffiti that’s a privilege to see and difficult to forget. Troy may be the sixth Agave & Rye location to take flight, as recent as November 27th of 2020, but its artwork and spray-painted walls are unique to Troy’s location. Agave & Rye couple the artworks’ effects with soft light under the bar and shelves that transition between colors to create a mood and a vibe that makes you want to stay and enjoy.

Love to order drinks but don’t feel like leaving them on the table? Need a curbside pickup for a quick get-it-and-go? Agave & Rye offers both a ‘sippy’ to-go container for drinks as well as curbside service. According to Blake, an exemplary server at Agave & Rye, the Troy location is knee-deep in renovating an additional wing of the building that allows for more seating. Speaking of Blake, the staff at Agave & Rye make you feel like the guest of honor. The hostess welcomes you and offers you ideas to help your wait-time fly. The servers never rush, and thanks to Agave & Rye’s HOLA and JUST CHILLIN’ card system, they know precisely when you need them and when you don’t.

Yes, Agave & Rye is a “modern Tequilla and Bourbon Hall,” but it’s also a let-me-make-this-moment-memorable extravaganza. Tasting the freshly squeezed lime in the margarita and the mango-infused lemonade. Hearing the crunch of the homemade tortilla chips. Feeling the seduction of the aroma and the atmosphere. Learning of their homemade, in-house, always-fresh mentality. Appreciating the top-notch hospitality and culinary genius. These are moments that are greater than their price tag; these are moments that awaken your awareness and appreciation for food perspectives different than your own.

Agave & Rye is a business model for brand recognition. There is zero chance that you will visit Agave & Rye and leave without confidently pin-pointing their culinary expertise and artistic vision– this is a sign of a restaurant with staying power. Visit Agave & Rye, and you’ll know how it feels to experience a streamlined vision and, more importantly, how it feels to dine among the taco gods.

The curious will visit; the wise will return.

Hi, Greg!

I couldn’t agree with you more. I just revised Agave & Rye on New Year’s Eve, and I’m still dreaming about it. I feel extremely lucky to have such an exceptional restaurant within driving distance!

We Celebrated my Grandsons 19th Birthday Saturday afternoon here….our server, Brian, was so kind! Food was so amazing can’t wait to come back again!
